Gustav Sparr

— is a graphic artist working with digital drawing and animations. His artistic practice is documented in an ongoing series of limited edition prints and artistbooks.

The images are ways to organise and interpret information and are littered with futuristic and arcane fragments that paraphrases books, art and films. The meticulously drawn and reproduced fragments and objects are arranged in repeating compositions and scenographies of content collages. In an ever expanding series of themed graphic mind-maps, new associative contexts are generated in the chaotic but detailed meditations.

Gustav Sparr’s animations and graphics have been shown at galleries and institutions in Sweden and internationally. Highlights include several soloshows at Galleri Thomassen; a residency and show at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Egypt; group shows at Bonniers Konsthall and Göteborgs Konsthall; screenings at Rencontres Paris/Berlin, 700IS, Reykavik, VAD Festival, Gerona, Cinemateket, Stockholm and GAMA, Linz.

Early animations are distributed by Filmform, Stockholm.
A selection of prints and artistbooks can be found at Grafikens Hus, Södertälje. Represented by Galleri Thomassen, Gothenburg.
